- Because your family believes a decent portion of sweets, ghee, dry fruits and dairy everyday is essential for remaining healthy.
- Because they think they have used less oil in vegetables if oil level in the pan is lower than 2 inches.
- Because you are asked what you want to eat right after you had your lunch/dinner/breakfast and if you are not hungry, you will be fed fruits or juice.
- Because going to gym or for a jog is considered too extreme, the best exercise is slow paced walking while eating ice-cream.
- Because you are made to eat 2 chappati's when you are not hungry and at least twice the required calories when you are actually hungry.
- Because after you had a sweet and hence your mouth is sweetened, you will be given fried namkeen just to change the taste in your mouth.
- Because punjabi mom's version of fat starts from 40 inches of waist and anything below is considered normal.
- Because taking coffee/tea without sugar is considered a health hazard.
- Because you always have 2-3 prasads at home from some temple/festival/occasion/relative etc. and guess what, prasad is sweet and not eating a decent portion of prasad is considered very bad.
- Because if you are in mood to eat something light, you will get suggested to eat paneer with dal makhani.
- Because when a punjabi boy comes home for a short vacation to home, his mom has to feed him to her heart's content otherwise she will feel bad when he is gone.
- Because not taking at least 2-3 helpings of food means you didn't like the preparation and it will directly hurt the one who cooked the food.
- Because you are encouraged to take rest/sleep right after taking your food......
- Because it's fashionable to take dinner late in night, you are fed fried pakoras, chicken, paneer, potatoes in evening.
